A video for “Theater Kids,” from Bringing Brevity to Drug Music.
And it’s here! A new collection of nine songs wherein Chow Chow Music fights against the tyranny of length that has strangled an entire droney, blissed-out, psychoactive, spacey and indulgent music genre. On Bringing Brevity to Drug Music, Chow Chow Music has doubled tremolo rates, halved delay pedal repeats and entirely done away with meandering vocals…all in the interest of saving your valuable time! No song exceeds four minutes. In less time than it takes to watch two viral videos you can hear one of nine new and strange instrumentals that have nothing to do with drugs yet, miraculously, SOUND like they might!
You can download the album on iTunes, Bandcamp, Amazon or whatever other music downloading service tickles your fancy.
Or maybe you just want to stream them?
Perhaps you need visuals? Well then check out the videos! (With more to come.)
And remember…
NO to DOPE, UP with HOPE, SHORTER drug songs.
Getting close! Here’s the awesome front/back covers designed by the aforementioned Jim Diotte.
It’s getting exciting over at Chow Chow Music HQ. Our second album is about to be released, and it makes drug references. The 9-song collection is receiving its final buff and polish (that is, mastering) up at Moontower Recording Studio, and the very talented James Diotte of Between the Pine is finishing up some artwork and whatnot. In fact, here he is in the midst of his musical composition process:

Which resulted in this beautiful work (that you can, and should, purchase):
Nice work, everyone. More soon.
Chow Chow Music has entered the political fray this year. That is, the non-partisan yet humorous fray. See here a few examples of some of the goofier CCM tunes supporting the pursuit of truth and justice over at FlackCheck.
In honor of New Years Eve, here’s a new/quick one featuring new eyeglasses and poor choices.
A recording my dad made of the U.S. Postmaster General giving a speech in Boston sometime around 1960. Turns out he’s as good a lyricist as any, although I don’t think I’ll ever understand his story in the beginning. Anyway, here’s the speech accompanied with music and a bunch of barflies and kids.
A short little song from Chow Chow Music. This guy just wanted some honeymoon time with the new wife but the goddam boss demanded a new song. Turns out all he needed was an angel with hipster glasses and lots of angel dust. Creative juices: flowing.
It’s been a while but here’s a new song, and there are several more nearing completion. Anyway, Brackish is not really about moderately-salty water, but like the tide it definitely takes its time.
Take a flight with Chow Chow Music. Here’s a video to go along with a new song, “Canada Can.”
